26th October, 2014 Catholic Fuchu Church Bazaar

On 26th October between 11am-1.30pm we participated in the Catholic Fuchu Church’s charity bazaar “Children requiring support for a brighter future” Proceeds of the bazaar will go to Pilipino children through the Child Fund Japan and to our own Fuji St. John’s Facility.

We were blessed by good weather throughout the day and there was a variety of international cooking to be enjoyed (Japanese, Indonesian, Korean and the Philippines). In addition there were handcrafted items, everyday goods, homemade cakes and sweets, drinks and fairy floss. At the St. John’s stall we offered a variety of handcrafted goods, including new this year macaroni angels, cookies, knitted items, a selection of cards and Hokkaido food specialities. Thanks to everybody most of the items were sold out.

The bazaar was a wonderful opportunity for international exchange and was a great success. We want to now start preparing diligently for next year’s bazaar and even finding some new things to offer.

We would like to thank Fr. Maurizio of the Catholic Fuchu Church, the bazaar coordinating committee, all those who served at the stalls and all the people who were so gracious as to attend. May God continue to pour out his blessing in abundance upon the Church.

A nature tour of Fuji St. John’s Facility June 2014

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”

Matthew 6:25-27

Visit to the Fuji St. John’s Facility June 2014

From 17th to 19th June two of our sisters visited  Oshino for the screening of the DVD “The History of Fuji St. John Facility” to staff. Reconstruction work is progressing at the facility. In addition, the Fuji St. John’s Hokuroku Service Center has been completed.  Those using the center carry out a variety of activities, including singing happily while playing the guitar. We were able to enjoy the natural inhabitant of Oshino while shooting the construction, but Fuji did not show her face unfortunately.

8th June 2014 Social event for the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of St. John’s Congregation

Following Mass on 8th June we held a social exchange with parishioners of the Catholic Koganei Church.
Despite the rain about 100 people attended including members of the St. John’s Brothers and Sisters Association.
One person even attended who had just returned from France the day before despite his jet lag and tiredness.
Following a speech by the Mother Superior we showed a DVD entitled “The History of Fuji St. John’s Facility”.
After that there was a small party and a photo exhibition of the facility.  There was occasional laughter during the
DVD which made it an enjoyable experience.
